||Expanded Students Grants-in-Aid Program for Poverty Alleviation (ESGP-PA) aims to contribute to the thrust of the National Government in effectively addressing poverty alleviation by increasing the number of graduates in higher education among poor households and to get these graduates employed in high-value added occupations in order to lift their families out of poverty and contribute to national development. This study is a joint research project of Capiz State University (CAPSU) in the province of Capiz and the Philippine Institute for Development Studies. It aims to assess the implementation of the program by describing the profile and the performance of the grantees in comparison with the non ESGP-PA peers. CAPSU started the program in the AY 2014-2015 with 863 slots throughout the 9 campuses in the province of Capiz. The grantees are expected to graduate in the AY 2017-2018. Most of the grantees who will graduate will be the first college degree holders in their families.
