Can the Philippines turn its tourism promise into a force for long-term growth?

Join the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) on March 18, 2026, from 9:00 to 11:30 AM via Zoom, for a webinar on advancing sustainable tourism in the Philippines. This session will present key findings from a recent PIDS study titled, "Philippine Tourism Sectoral Review (2000 to 2025): From Promise to Power—Accelerating the Philippines’ Tourism Transformation toward Sustainability, Competitiveness, and Inclusion,” which assesses the sector’s economic contributions, structural trends, and policy frameworks.

Authored by PIDS Senior Research Fellow Dr. John Paolo R. Rivera, De La Salle College of Saint Benilde Associate Professorial Lecturer Marga Clarence P. Bolalin, and PIDS Research Specialist John Joseph S. Ocbina, the study outlines practical strategies to strengthen tourism competitiveness—such as improving infrastructure and connectivity, enhancing tourism offerings, and expanding opportunities beyond major destinations—in line with the National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP) 2023–2028.

Join policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders in discussing how sustainable tourism can support inclusive growth and regional development. Register at https://bit.ly/pidsevent031826.

The webinar will also be livestreamed on the PIDS and SERP-P Facebook pages. Read the full study at https://bit.ly/pidsdp2025-43.
