As part of the 25th Anniversary Celebration of Socioeconomic Research Portal for the Philippines (SERP-P) of the Philippine Institute for Development Studies, themed “25 Years of Open Access: Advancing Policy Research for Transparent Governance,” the Network will hold its 11th Knowledge-sharing Forum titled, “People’s Budget: Tracking Transparency and Accountability” on December 2, 2025.
Scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, this forum will highlight the budget process, why scrutiny matters, and how research can help safeguard public funds featuring evidence-based presentations from:
- Congressional Policy and Budget Research Department – “Earmarked Revenues in the Philippines: Trends, Issues, and Policy Options”
- Senate Economic Planning Office – “Assessment of the Macroeconomic and Fiscal Assumptions of the Proposed 2026 National Government Budget”
- WeSolve Foundation – “From the Ground Up: Citizen Engagement and Evidence Use in Budget Monitoring”
These discussions will unpack the country’s fiscal challenges, transparency mechanisms, and the crucial role of citizens and communities in keeping public spending accountable.
Onsite participation is by invitation only, but the session will be livestreamed via the PIDS and SERP-P Facebook pages.
SERP-P (https://serp-p.pids.gov.ph/) is the country’s largest open-access knowledge hub on socioeconomic development. Established by the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS), it brings together research from more than 60 partner institutions to support collaboration and evidence-informed policymaking.
