June is Philippine Environment Month.

Building a more sustainable future requires action across government, communities, and  private sector.

A PIDS study examined data from 2015 to 2024 in line with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards. ESG is a tool for "market correction," ensuring firms internalize their environmental and social costs rather than passing them on to the public.

The study surfaced that Governance (G) is the strongest predictor of a firm's growth and market value. While Social (S) investments take time to pay off, Environmental (E) actions significantly boost efficiency for asset-heavy companies.
