According to PIDS Senior Research Fellow Dr. John Paolo Rivera, the costs eventually show up in everyday life—through higher prices, tighter household budgets, and missed opportunities to address long-standing challenges.
Speaking with Cathy Yang on Money Talks, Dr. Rivera discussed how recurring issues such as energy insecurity, inflation, and infrastructure gaps point to a deeper challenge: not a lack of policies, but a lack of coordination and long-term implementation.
He also shared why better data, targeted support, and a stronger focus on resilience are key to helping Filipinos weather future shocks.
