Due to inclement weather which may cause power outage and limited internet connection, this webinar has been moved to November 19, 2020 from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM.

This webinar will feature the PIDS research paper “Assessing the Readiness of Filipino MRA-supported Professions to Participate in the Mobility of Skilled Labor in the ASEAN Region: Lessons for APEC Economies” authored by Asian Institute Management Associate Director John Paolo R. Rivera, De La Salle University Associate Professor Cynthia P. Cudia, and De La Salle University Distinguished Professor Tereso S. Tullao, Jr.

The study looked into the human resource development dimension of the various mutual recognition arrangements (MRAs) of the Philippines with the ASEAN and their contributions to the labor participation of Filipino skilled professionals in the region.

Specifically, it assessed how MRAs contributed to improving the quality of professionals in the ASEAN.  The study also reviewed the best practices of Filipino professions with MRA support (i.e., accountancy services, medical practitioners, architectural services, engineering services, and tourism services), which can help other professionals attain regional and international comparability. Further, it identified challenges faced by Filipino professionals engaged in these services in complying with their respective MRAs and proposed policy recommendations on how to address them.
