Hello, PIDS friends! Here's our #FactFriday for the week on the characteristics of digital economy participants.

A PIDS study found that certain groups are more likely to benefit and participate in the digital economy. These include those who live in urban or more affluent areas, neither too old nor too young to utilize the technology, male, and with adequate skills. This is because these segments have better motivational, material, and skills access to computers and the internet. Trust and perception of the internet have also been a factor, with not knowing what the internet is and what it can do as a barrier. More commercialized, well-off, and touristy areas are also likely to use digital platforms.
