In line with the approval of the Senate of the Philippine Innovation Act, PIDS organized a seminar titled "Measuring and Examining Innovation in Philippine Business and Industry" on November 6, 2017 from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. at the PIDS office.
Presented by Dr. Jose Ramon Albert, Senior Research Fellow at PIDS, the study described the results of the 2015 Survey of Innovation Activities (2015 SIA). Dr. Albert tackled the types of innovations engaged by firms, provided information on the environments in which these innovative activities are conducted, and determined the factors of innovation performance, barriers to innovation, and effects of innovation of firms. Insights on possible actions of the government to stimulate innovation as a major driver of economic output, productivity, and competitiveness were also discussed.
