Hello, PIDS friends! Here's our #PIDSFactFriday for the week on the labor market outcomes of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries.
A PIDS study that analyzed the labor market outcomes of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries revealed the wide gender gap in their labor market participation. Males are better off in having a stable work while most females are excluded from the labor force doing unpaid work, such as household and family duties. The study thus underscored the need to address the varying labor market needs of men and women in 4Ps households. It highlighted the importance of the Sustainable Livelihood Program, which was found to mostly benefit women, and the need for sustainable and comprehensive livelihood programs that target young women and young mothers in poorer communities to address the gender gap.
