For this week, our buzzword is “maternal mortality”.
It refers to deaths due to complications from pregnancy or childbirth.

A PIDS study assessed the implementation of the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health (RPRH) Act of 2012 at the local level. Under the RPRH Law, local government units (LGUs) are mandated to conduct maternal death reviews (MDRs) at least annually. Majority of the study’s LGU respondents conduct MDRs every month (40%), while others conduct it quarterly (33%) or semi-annually (20%).
