The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) held a symposium on "Rethinking Regulations in the Era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution" on January 18, 2019 at the Garden Ballroom of Edsa Shangri-La in Mandaluyong City. The event focused on the regulatory issues and constraints affecting the government and industry sectors, as well as the opportunities and strategies to address them.
It is a sequel to the Institute's Annual Public Policy Conference (APPC) held on September 19, 2018, at the Edsa Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City. The APPC is part of a series of awareness-raising activities, policy dialogues, and seminars led by the PIDS in line with the nationwide celebration of the annual Development Policy Research Month (DPRM). The theme of the APPC is "Harnessing the Fourth Industrial Revolution: Creating Our Future Today". It highlighted the profound impacts of digital and technological revolutions in the Philippine landscape and how we can make them work to our advantage, especially in making growth more sustainable and inclusive, while at the same, adjusting to the disruptions and potential negative impacts of emerging technologies through appropriate policy interventions.
