The 91-day LIBOR for the month of October averaged at 1.79, lower than 2.42 of October last year.

Balance of payments for the first semester amounted to $1729 million surplus, a turnaround from the $606 million deficit for the same period last year. However balance of payments for the month of June amounted to a $160 million deficit.

The volume of production index for the month of September 2002 is 112.1, lower than September of last year`s 117.9.

Labor force population in October 2002 was 1.0% higher than the estimate of 33.4 million last year. Employed persons was estimated at 30.3 million in October 2002, up to 0.6% over the same period last year. Unemployment rate increased to 10.2% in October this year from 9.8 in October last year. Underemployment rate decreased by 1.3 percentage points, from 16.6 in October last year to 15.3% this year.

Composite Index closes at 1,053.63 for the month of November. This is lower compared to October`s 1,121.54.

The NG deficit as of October 2002 according to the National Government Cash Operations Report is P21 Billion, approximately P10 billion higher than the NG deficit in October of last year.
