The 91-day Treasury bill rate went down in December at 5.164 percent from November’s 5.257 percent.

Labor force population in October 2002 was 1.0% higher than the estimate of 33.4 million last year. Employed persons was estimated at 30.3 million in October 2002, up to 0.6% over the same period last year. Unemployment rate increased to 10.2% in October this year from 9.8 in October last year. Underemployment rate decreased by 1.3 percentage points, from 16.6 in October last year to 15.3% this year.

Composite Index closes at 1,018.41 for the month of December. This is lower compared to November`s 1,053.63.

The National Government Cash Operations Report (COR) shows that NG deficit is lower for the month of November 2002 (P12.987 billion)compared to October`s P22.4 billion. As of November, the annual NG deficit now stands at P200.554 Billion.

The Philippine Peso continued to depreciate against the US Dollar in December as the average monthly exchange rate reached P53.519.
