The private sector is said to be characterized by concentrated ownership by a limited number of family shareholders (WB, 2001). “Family-owned business groups are the dominant form of economic organization in the Philippines” (Dela Rama, 2010). The extent of such concentration is an important issue concerning competition and wealth distribution. However, there has not been any study that have examined this particular subject in the Philippines. The study aims to analyze the networks among PH’s top corporations to get an understanding of the extent of concentration/competition among these corporations and to draw some policy insights from the results.
