Space has the potential to revolutionize the global economy, and industries that will generate more than 80 percent of the increase in the space economy by 2035 – supply chain and transportation; food and beverage; state-sponsored defense; retail, consumer goods and lifestyle; digital communications; media, entertainment and sports; and state-sponsored civilian activities.

Space technologies will provide solutions to many of the world’s greatest challenges.  Increasing role of space in disaster warning and climate monitoring, improving humanitarian response, and increasing access to prosperity. The passage of the  Philippine Space Act (RA 11363) and the creation of the agency enables the Philippines to take advantage of the growing space economy.

The study will examine industries related to space activities, particularly satellite communications services, and review the Philippine government’s existing policies and initiatives. It will also draw insights from other countries in Asia in harnessing the potential of the satellite communications sector, and its contributions to socioeconomic development. These countries may include established space nations like India and Japan and emerging space nations such as Peru and Thailand.
