The main event of the DPRM is the Annual Public Policy Conference. This year’s conference, which PIDS is organizing with support from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, will be held on September 22, 2016, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, at the Marco Polo Hotel in Ortigas, Pasig City. Your presence in this conference will be highly appreciated.

The keynote speaker will be Socioeconomic Planning Secretary and NEDA Director-General Dr. Ernesto Pernia while former president of the National Academy of Science and Technology and PIDS board member, Dr. William Padolina, will give the closing remarks. The conference consists of parallel sessions on agricultural resilience, health resilience, macroeconomic/financial resilience, and urban environment resilience. Established and emerging scholars from the Philippines and overseas will present their studies on these topics while a multidisciplinary group of public policy experts and practitioners will share their commentaries and perspectives. Attached is a copy of the tentative program for your reference.

The Annual Public Policy Conference, which started in 2015, aims to convene experts and researchers in the social sciences to flag to policymakers critical issues that must be addressed in the immediate term. It is envisioned to serve as a platform to further bridge research and policymaking and enhance evidence-informed planning and policy formulation in the country.
