The Center for International Relations and Strategic Studies (CIRSS) of the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) is ranked 71st among the leading think tanks in Southeast Asia and the Pacific in the 2019 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report of the University of Pennsylvania’s Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) at the Lauder Institute.

CIRSS has consistently been in the said list since 2015. In 2018, it was ranked 71st out of 108 institutions, and in 2017, it was 68th out of 100 institutions.

There are 107 institutions in the 2019 list of top think tanks in Southeast Asia and the Pacific. CIRSS was cited along with these institutions in the Philippines:

·       Institute for Strategic and Development Studies (ISDS), 31st
·       The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS), 39th
·       The Asian Institute of Management (AIM), 69th
·       The Initiatives for International Dialogue (IID), 87th, and
·       The Ateneo Center for Economic Research and Development (ACERD),107th

The TTCSP works with leading scholars and practitioners from think tanks and universities in a variety of collaborative efforts and programs, and releases the annual Global Go to Think Tank Index that ranks the world’s leading think tanks in a variety of categories.  Its goal is to increase the profile and performance of think tanks and raise public awareness on the important role they play in governments and civil societies worldwide.

CIRSS conducts studies on Philippine foreign policy issues and organizes local and international forums as channels for interaction, cooperation, and integration of the efforts of local and foreign experts from government, private and academic sectors on these issues.  CIRSS also publishes the CIRSS Commentaries, short articles on pressing regional and global developments, and the FSI Insights, in-depth analyses of international issues that have strategic impact on the Philippines.
