#PIDSInfoBits: Did you know that the Philippines has one of the lowest public spending on health among the ASEAN countries?
In 2017, only 35 percent of the Philippines’ spending on health came from the government and other public sources. Individuals’ direct expenses on health care (out-of-pocket expenditures) accounted for 53 percent.
Public funds for health are critical in attaining universal health coverage.
