The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) and the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) held a press conference on September 5, 2017 at the PIA Central Office to herald the start of the 15th Development Policy Research Month (DPRM).
The press conference panel was led by PIDS President Gilberto Llanto. PIDS Senior Research Fellow Rosario Manasan presented the Institute’s paper on “Designing the Fiscal Features of a Federal Form of Government in the Philippines". PIA Director-General Harold Clavite, NEDA Undersecretary for Regional Development Adoracion Navarro, and officials from the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Finance-Bureau of Local Government Finance, and Department of Budget and Management were also among the panelists.
The DPRM is celebrated across the country every September since 2002 in view of Malacañang Proclamation No. 247. This activity aims to promote and draw nationwide awareness on the importance of policy research in the formulation of sound development plans, programs, and policies. The proclamation designated state think tank PIDS as the lead government agency in the yearly observance of the DPRM.
