The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS), in partnership with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Development Centre held a Policy Forum on "Economic Outlook and Challenges for Emerging Asia: Infrastructure and Industry 4.0" on July 31, 2018 at the PIDS office in Quezon City.

The forum featured three presentations, namely, "Economic Outlook for Southeast Asia, China and India 2018" by Dr. Kensuke Tanaka, Head of Asia Desk, OECD Development Centre, "Road and Rail Infrastructure in Asia: Investing in Quality" by Dr. Prasiwi Ibrahim, Economist, Asia Desk, OECD Development Centre, and "Challenges and Opportunities Facing Government in the Wake of the Fourth Industrial Revolution" by Jose Ramon Albert, Senior Research Fellow, PIDS. 

Dr. Tanaka discussed the highlights of OECD's 2018 Economic Outlook report which carries the theme "Fostering Growth through Digitalisation" while Dr. Ibrahim tackled the infrastructure challenges facing Asia and possible policy options, including those previously or currently used in Emerging Asian countries. For his part, Dr. Albert discussed the critical role of government in creating an enabling environment that fosters technological upgrading and innovation.
