The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) will hold a public webinar on February 15, 2024 from 9:00 to 11:30 am, via Zoom.

This virtual event will feature the PIDS study “Macroeconomic Outlook of the Philippines in 2023–2024: Prospects and Perils” authored by former PIDS Senior Research Fellow Margarita Debuque-Gonzales, Research Specialist Mark Gerald C. Ruiz, and Research Analyst Ramona Maria L. Miral. The study looks at the country’s economic performance, while examining global and regional outlooks, projections on growth and consumer prices, and prospects for 2024.

The study reveals that economic growth is anticipated to grow between 5.5 to 6 percent in 2024 with inflation falling to the target range. This positive projection is strengthened by key factors such as steady remittances, improved job market, benign financial conditions, less restrictive public budget, and rising business expectations in some sectors. Attention is also drawn to risks related to inflation, the country’s fiscal position, and the newly created national investment fund.

An e-copy of the full study is available on the following link: https://www.pids.gov.ph/publication/discussion-papers/macroeconomic-outlook-of-the-philippines-in-2023-2024-prospects-and-perils.
