To formally launch the 16th Development Policy Research Month (DPRM) celebration this coming September, the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) will hold a press conference on September 4, 2018, from 10:00 am to 12:40 pm, at the Luxent Hotel in Diliman, Quezon City. Spearheaded by PIDS, the DPRM is an annual nationwide celebration held every September to promote awareness and understanding of the importance of policy research in the formulation of development policies, programs, and projects.

This year's theme is "Harnessing the Fourth Industrial Revolution: Creating Our Future Today" (Filipino translation: "Isulong ang Fourth Industrial Revolution Tungo sa Katuparan ng Ating Kinabukasan Ngayon"). By focusing on this theme, we hope to promote awareness and understanding of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (FIRe) and encourage everyone to be proactive in preparing for and adapting to the changes that come along with advanced digital technologies. We also wish to underscore the importance of cross-sectoral collaboration and a whole-of-government approach to help the country harness the opportunities and mitigate the risks emerging from the FIRe.

The press conference panel will be led by PIDS President Celia M. Reyes. Joining him are PIDS Senior Research Fellows Dr. Jose Ramon Albert and Dr. Ramonette Serafica, Secretary Fortunato de la Pena of the Department of Science and Technology, Secretary Silvestre Bello of the Department of Labor and Employment, Secretary Ramon Lopez of the Department of Trade and Industry, Mr. George Barcelon of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Ms. Amina Rasul-Bernardo, Philippine Center for Islam and Democracy.

This press conference will be streamed live at PIDS FB page http://facebook.com/PIDS.PH.
