The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) was recently conferred the Special Recognition for the Stakeholder’s Participation in the Environmental Scanning Exercise (ESE) award by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).
The award was given to recognize the active participation and cooperation of agencies like the PIDS in the conduct of ESEs in 2018. The Institute, through Senior Research Fellow Jose Ramon G. Albert, was invited by the BSP to present on “Big Data Revolution in the Philippines” in December last year.
The ESE is a roundtable discussion among industry experts, government and private institutions, and members of the Monetary Board on topics concerning monetary policy and central banking. Previous ESEs have provided the BSP with very useful information in its economic assessment and policy formulation.
