Men and women play important roles in the economy. However, the contribution of men and women are often not accounted for similarly.

This infographic shows some of these unaccounted contributions by providing new estimates of the value of men’s and women’s work using the Philippine National Transfer Accounts and National Time Transfer Accounts. It also highlights some issues and recommendations on how to encourage more women to work outside the home and how to improve the system of accounting in valuing the work of both men and women.

This infographic is based on PIDS Discussion Paper Series No. 2019-02 titled “Counting Women’s Work in the Philippines” written by Michael R.M. Abrigo and Kris Francisco-Abrigo, PIDS research fellow and consultant, respectively. This publication may be downloaded here: https://www.pids.gov.ph/publications/6808.
