THE SERVICES SECTOR will continue to push the growth of the country`s gross domestic product (GDP) as the government expects the economy to expand by at least 4% in the second half, an official told reporters yesterday. `One growth driver is the services sector as the business process outsourcing sector is relatively resilient to global trade shocks. We will definitely be aiming for higher growth because for us to achieve the 5% to 6% target, the minimum growth we need for the second half is 4%,` said Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan in an interview at the sidelines of the opening of the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) Research Fair and Forum on Increasing Firm Competitiveness for Inclusive Growth.
