The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), in cooperation with state think tank Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) will launch the Social Protection Toolbox on December 5,at Carlos P. Romulo Hall, NEDA sa Makati Bldg., Makati City. The Toolbox will enhance the capacity of policymakers and planners to develop coherent and effective social protection policies and programs. The Social Protection Toolbox is an online platform that provides a database of good social protection practices. It will also include a network of social protection experts to facilitate the building of consensus in "moving forward” toward a broader and more robust coverage. The database contains over 80 good practices of social protection from developing countries. The Philippine launch will be presented to members of government, civil society, academia, and the media. The Toolbox will officially "go live” during the launch. Guests are encouraged to bring their wireless device so they can personally check out the Toolbox while it is being presented by UNESCAP.
