The World Bank’s (WB) commitment to reduce poverty remains at the top of its agenda. In support of the government’s social reform agenda, WB assistance strategies for the Philippines include a more visible and intensive poverty alleviation effort. The author shares her thoughts in a Pulong Saliksikan held last December 14, 1995. With the belief that since the bank has years of experience in poverty alleviation schemes, then it has a major role to play in the country’s effort to dispel poverty.
