The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS), in partnership with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Development Centre will hold a Policy Forum on “Economic Outlook and Challenges for Emerging Asia: Infrastructure and Industry 4.0” on July 31, 2018 from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm, at the PIDS Conference Room, 18th Floor, Three Cyberpod Centris North Tower, EDSA corner Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.
The forum will feature three presentations, namely, “Economic Outlook for Southeast Asia, China and India 2018” by Dr. Kensuke Tanaka, Head of Asia Desk, OECD Development Centre, “Road and Rail Infrastructure in Asia: Investing in Quality” by Dr. Prasiwi Ibrahim, Economist, Asia Desk, OECD Development Centre, and “Challenges and Opportunities Facing Government in the Wake of the Fourth Industrial Revolution” by Jose Ramon Albert, Senior Research Fellow, PIDS.
Dr. Tanaka will discuss the highlights of OECD’s 2018 Economic Outlook report which carries the theme “Fostering Growth through Digitalisation” while Dr. Ibrahim will tackle the infrastructure challenges facing Asia and possible policy options, including those previously or currently used in Emerging Asian countries. For his part, Dr. Albert will discuss the critical role of government in creating an enabling environment that fosters technological upgrading and innovation.
