This roundtable, jointly organized by the Philippine Institute for Development Studies, the Singapore Institute of International Affairs, and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN, will create a dialogue for policymakers and other relevant stakeholders to discuss pertinent issues that the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand should consider as partners when they take on the role as ASEAN's chair. This will help align the priorities and agenda of the ASEAN chairs for the next three consecutive years towards a common goal of the ASEAN 2025 Roadmap, assisting in continuity and consistency on the regional agenda.
The roundtable, which will be held at the Makati Shangri-La on March 30, will be attended by 20-30 senior representatives from government, the private sector and think tanks from the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. The discussions will focus on geopolitics and connectivity in ASEAN and Asia. It will also examine issues such as the rising importance of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership in light of the USA withdrawing from the Trans Pacific Partnership and how the grouping can transition towards a more people-centered ASEAN Community.
