The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) is leading the nation in the annual observance of the 12th Development Policy Research Month (DPRM) this September. The DPRM is an annual celebration mandated by Presidential Proclamation 247 to elevate people’s awareness and appreciation of the value and importance of evidence-based planning and policymaking to nation-building.
During this year’s celebration, the PIDS will hold a seminar titled “Addressing the Jobs Challenge toward Inclusive Growth” on 23 September 2014, from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm (registration at 8:30 am), at Romulo Hall, Ground Floor of the NEDA sa Makati Bldg., 106 Amorsolo St., Legaspi Village, Makati City.
The seminar-forum will focus on the high income inequality and poverty incidence in the Philippines despite rapid economic growth. It is widely believed that this failure to attain greater inclusiveness is due to widespread joblessness among the poor and the economy’s inability to rapidly expand quality job opportunities.
