The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS), in collaboration with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), will hold a policy dialogue on the Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific 2019, which is the annual flagship publication of the ESCAP. This will be held on May 16, 2019 (Thursday), from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, at the PIDS Conference Room, 18th Floor, Three Cyberpod Centris North Tower, EDSA corner Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.
The policy dialogue aims to discuss the outcomes of the Survey 2019, as well as major development issues confronting the Philippines and available options to address them. National policymakers, researchers, and members of the academe from Manila are invited to attend.
In addition to assessing the economic conditions and near-term economic growth prospects of the Asia-Pacific region, the Survey 2019 will also highlight the overall economic progress of the region in the past decades. The Survey 2019 will likewise discuss a pathway toward development that is more people-centered and ecologically sustainable, which is in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
PIDS, for its part, will also present a study related to the ESCAP report.
