Hello, PIDS friends! Here's our #PIDSFactFriday for the week on the country’s low agricultural production.

A PIDS study underscored the country’s low agricultural production despite increased investments in research and extension. This can be attributed to overlaps in research function among research and development institutions, weak linkage between research and extension, underinvestment in agricultural research, and the country lagging behind other ASEAN countries in terms of number of researchers. The study also found that local government units suffer from a lack of financial resources to fund agricultural projects and from human resource constraints. Technology transfer also remains problematic.
