Representatives from the World Bank (WB) visited the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) on June 1 to discuss the principal challenges and opportunities for attaining long-term poverty reduction and widespread economic growth. They were greeted by PIDS President Aniceto C. Orbeta Jr. and Senior Research Fellows Maria Margarita D. Gonzales and Sonny N. Domingo.

According to WB Senior Economist Ralph Van Doorn, the discussion serves as input for updating the WB’s Systematic Country Diagnostic (SCD) for the Philippines, which will set the groundwork for its future support to the country.

The World Bank is expected to release the SCD in November.
