The Philippine Institute of Development Studies (PIDS) in coordination with the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) and support from the Capacity Development Technical Assistance (CDTA) of ADB sponsored a seminar-workshop entitled “AEC 2015: Development Challenges for the Philippines” on 12 September 2013 at the Romulo Hall of the NEDA Makati Building. The main objective of the workshop was to accelerate awareness and capacity building in addressing major issues and challenges as the Philippines moves its national agenda and strategy towards the realization of the ASEAN Economic Community by 2015.

The workshop provided an opportunity for NEDA and selected government officials to interact with PIDS researchers and discuss how the challenges could be addressed and explore measures to move forward. It focused on the following relevant topics: trade liberalization and facilitation; investment promotion and facilitation; and infrastructure and logistics.
