The DOH-PIDS Technical Writing Workshop aims to train fellows and selected DOH staff on technical writing. Participants are expected to obtain and display the following:
1. Skills in conceptualizing, interviewing, and note-taking;
2. Skills in drafting basic documents such as outlines, short notes, and scopes of work and terms of references; and
3. Skills in writing, editing and finalizing technical reports.

The Statistics and STATA Training for HPR Fellows, on the other hand, aims to instill basic knowledge of statistics and quantitative methods, which are necessary for evidence-based policy decisionmaking. As one of the core skills that health policy and research fellows need to learn, the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) developed a training course that will help them understand the rudimentary and pragmatic use of statistics. The program was also designed to familiarize them with STATA, the most popular statistical software in health economics and health policy research. At the end of the training course, the following goals should be achieved:
a. The participants should appreciate the use of statistics and quantitative methods and identify the potential application at their own workplace/field of interest.
b. The participants should understand the basic concept of descriptive and inferential statistics, research methods and sampling methods.
c. The participants should be familiar with the commonly used data and information in the Philippine health system. This includes what specific data can be estimated from the following data sets: Family Income Expenditure Surveys, DHS, APIS, Census, FPS and NNS.
d. The participants should be able to navigate and use the basic commands of STATA.
e. The participants should be able to explain with confidence the outputs generated from STATA.
