The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) held a multi-sector round table discussion on Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) last January 16, 2013 at Dusit Hotel Thani in Makati City. The objectives of the RTD are to (1) disseminate the current status of NCDs and (2) gather inputs on how to involve different sectors in the prevention and control programs of the Department of Health. As envisioned by the Department of Health, the RTD is one of the precursor activities prior to the development of multi-sector framework.
The 1-day round table discussion was attended by 50 participants/experts from the following agencies: Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS); World Health Organization; Department of Health; Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth); Ateneo Graduate School of Business (AGSB); Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA); Department of Trade and Industry (DTI); Philippine Cancer Society; Department of Finance (DOF); Food and Nutrition and Research Institute (FNRI); USAID Philippines; Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE); Health Justice; National Nutrition Council; UNICEF; World Bank; Philippine Association for the Study of Overweight and Obesity; UP Manila; Rural Health Ph NCD; Department of Education; Philippine Association of National Advertisers; Development Academy of the Philippines and Health Futures Foundation.
