Hello, PIDS friends! Here's our #PIDSFactFriday for the week on the government's healthcare worker deployment program.

A PIDS study that investigated the implementation of the Department of Health’s Human Resources for Health Deployment Program found that while the program was intended to augment the supply of healthcare workers in underserved areas, it seemed to have drifted from this original purpose as data from recent years show. The program deployed healthcare workers even to affluent local governments (first to third income classes) and areas with relatively low poverty incidence and a sufficient supply of healthcare workers.
