The textile-garment industry is a classic example of the challenge for Philippine agroindustrial restructuring. While the garment industry has been one of the major export industries in the country, the textile industry has been import-oriented and less competitive. However, the latter’s share in output is exported indirectly through the former. This issue thus calls for a successful restructuring program. It argues that only through this that the cluster will have substantial economic impact.
