The agrarian reform program represents an important innovation that will alter the landscape of the rural sector. While the focus of literature on interlinked markets has been on tenancy cum credit contracts, the literature on different types of interlinked contracts has been wanting. This review attempts to provide the background for a more detailed and rigorous examination, both theoretical and empirical, of the issue of agrarian reform and interlinking. It also discusses the welfare implications of various policy interventions, ranging from banning interlinked contracts to agrarian reform.
